Marshall Jefferson: The House Music Anthem Vinyl 7″
The original house music anthem, now on 45 courtesy of Get On Down. Marshall Jefferson’s “Move Your Body” is recognized as one of the key tracks that helped house music expand outside of Chicago, but it almost didn’t get a release. In fact, Trax label boss at the time Larry Sherman is rumored to have disliked the song, and initially had no interest in pressing it up. It wasn’t until Marshall handed limited cassette copies of his own pressing to legendary Chicago DJs Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles that a buzz began to form and the track made it’s way as far as London and Ibiza. Only then did Sherman finally decide to press it up; ultimately becoming Trax’s first worldwide hit and earning the title of “the house music anthem.”
