After original singer Curtis Mayfield left the modern soul group The Impressions to continue his vision quest he suggested a young Leroy Hutson to take his place. Soon Hutson followed Mayfield in the pursuit of a solo career. Both as imaginative and explorative in their own rights, their solo material is well ahead of the curve or on a completely different level for that matter. Still embedded in Soul, Hutson’s debut is a beautiful album front to back with a much more direct style that expands on his work with the Impressions.
