Io follows 2017’s Satellite as the second installment in the Music To Draw To series, finding Eric San (bka Kid Koala) teaming up once again with a vocalist for inspired soundscapes designed to help boost the listener’s creativity. Trixie Whitley is recruited on vocal duties this go round, while San holds down instrumentation on a vast array of vintage synthesizers and electronic noise makers (including the trove of rare instruments at Calgary’s National Music Centre). The final product is a stunning work to behold (especially if you are only familiar with Koala the scratch DJ), with depth and nuance that deserves repeat listens.
