Boogie Master Joey Negro reworks, redits, and remixes Disco classics with style and finesse. The UK DJ/producer/remixer born Dave Lee has released countless titles under names such as Jakatta, Akabu, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band, Sessomatto, and Z Factor. He was one of the first producers to use disco samples in his house productions and has amassed a monumental record collection over the years. Through his record collecting and production work he’s gained an insurmountable amount of knowledge around house, disco, funk, and much more. Luckily for us he’s put that knowledge to use over the years and particularly for this release. Joey has reached into his collection, sourced original master tapes and gone about editing and remixing the past’s classics. And he does not so much remix these tracks the way you would expect today. He’s tried to preserve their original spirit while making them playable along side today’s music. Of course he’s added drums and extended things where necessary, but it’s all in the spirit of bringing these classics back to life. Part A features edits of Mass Production, Ashford & Simpson, Roxy Music, and Kleeer amongst others.
