Jim James follows up 2009’s Tribute To, for which he covered George Harrison’s songs as a way of coping w/ the Beatle’s death. The home recordings were an intimate but charged affair, and for this sequel, the vibe is retained, even as the production value of the has gone up. Cover albums can be a tricky thing, why mess with classics from the likes of The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Emerson, Lake & Palm, and more? But in James’s case, he adds a new dimension to the said tracks and reinterprets them w/ his own eclectic vision.
