Optimo’s JD Twitch continues to amaze with his versatile style. We all know he murks it on the dance tip, but did you know he can rock reggae as well? The proof is in the sound (bwoy). On the debut release of his own Bucky Skank imprint, Twitch offers up tracks inspired by Jamaica’s rich musical history, kicking off with an absolutely wicked reinterpretation of Sleng Teng. “Skeng Teng” as it’s dubbed, is Twitch’s version of the seminal riddim, topped off with vocals from Roll Deep member Killa P. And for fans of the digi-dub, Tapes hooks up a killer 8-bit remix. Flipside features Twitch’s redub of Bunny Wailer’s “Rockers” that features more of a dancehall stomp with Cassie O handling mic duties, while dub techno heads should head directly to the South London Ordnance remix. Twitch never disappoints!
