Jay Dee: Jay Deelicious – The Delicious Vinyl Years (J Dilla) Vinyl 3LP
If you’re not completely up to date on your Dilla crate, here’s the perfect chance to fill in the gaps. The Jay Deelicious album compiles the harder to find Dilla productions, remixes and rarities made for esteemed hip-hop label Delicious Vinyl circa ’95-’98. Of course you get classic Dilla produced originals for the Pharcyde (“Drop,” “Runnin’,” “Somethin’ That Means Somethin’,” etc.), but also a gang of less heard remixes for groups like The Brand New Heavies and N’Dea Davenport (with raps from Q-Tip and Mos Def to boot). Would be worth it just for these sleeper Dilla cuts, but you also get the instrumentals too! Must have for the Jay Dee crate! Recommended.
