James Brown: Get On The Good Foot Vinyl 2LP
The first of 3 James Brown studio double albums. The centerpiece of Good Foot is of course the title track. Half the song is one long breakdown (on a side note, check out J-Rocc‘s Sex Machine mix for unforgettable doubles mixing of this track). Also check out Parts 3 and 4 of “My Part/Make It Funky.” If you’re more into the grown & sexy steez, you’ll be sure to dig the range of mellow tracks on here from the smooth instrumental “Dirty Harri” to the charmingly soulful “Please Please.” Also invoking James’ power are the triumphant “Your Love Was Good for Me” and the political “The Whole World Needs Liberation.” The rest of the album walks the line of mediocrity, especially the weak remake of “Cold Sweat.” Not one of JB‘s best but excellent by anyone else’s standards. 2019 double vinyl pressing on Polydor with gatefold sleeve.
