“Somewhere I might be a modern human being, But not here, not with a hundred thousand trees…” Will Wiesenfeld‘s been releasing music as Geotic for 10 years now, making it older than his best-known guise Baths. But these days the Geotic alias is reserved for vivid world-building and dancefloor-leaning excursions, with the Baths project continuing to be the main outlet for his powerful songwriting and explosive vocal performance. Traversa covers a lot of ground (natch), cut nice and neat into 8 colorful slices of synthpop bliss transporting you far away into placid mountain villages (“Swiss Bicycle”), Japanese townships (“Town Square”) and neon-streaked oceanside freeways (“Harbor Drive”) like the stage select screen of the chillest open world video game you could imagine. Traversa is mostly instrumental, comprised of slinky microhouse beats and synth arpeggios, but Wiesenfeld‘s vocals appear in the form of hushed reveries enhancing the moods of “Aerostat,” “Knapsack,” “Terraformer” and “Gondolier.” Limited edition seafoam green colored vinyl limited to 750 copies, housed in reflective rainbow foil jacket.
