Detroit just can’t stop turning out the heat! This might be the first title that we’ve picked up from Big Strick’s 7 Days label, perhaps we were not aware of what we were missing. Generation Next sees Strick’s son, who’s previously popped up on Big Strick cuts like Alpha & Omega and Resivior Dogs, move out on his own. The 17 year old’s eponymous EP is an exercise in effortless and effective simplicity. All four cuts a quite refined, showing a sharpened focus from such a young producer. The tracks are synth and drum machine focused, infused with resonance and an ear for space. Equally enjoyable on headphones or in the club. Recommended.
