Florist: If Blue Could Be Happiness (Indie Exclusive Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
Sophomore studio album from Brooklyn indie-pop outfit Florist. While their debut, 2016’s The Birds Outside Sang, was written and recorded during a period of recovery from a cycling accident endured by songwriter Emily Sprague, unable to play guitar due to partial paralysis from the accident and opting instead for keyboards, If Blue Could be Happiness finds the band firmly in their comfort zone. Guitars are back in the mix and the band’s sound is distilled to its essence: dazzling guitar melodies, misty, minimal drumming and arboreal folk atmosphere guided by Sprague’s straightforward yet vulnerable lyrics. Highlights include “Glowing Brightly,” “What I Wanted To Hold,” “Understanding Light.” Indie-exclusive clear vinyl pressing.
