Seven cult classic out-of-print albums from the prolific & iconic Fela Kuti! Following previous installments curated by Ginger Baker, Questlove, Erykah Badu and Brian Eno, Fela Box #5 includes 7 of the Black President’s albums carefully selected by Chris Martin (yes, that Chris Martin!) and Fela’s own son, afrobeat ambassador Femi Kuti. Knitting Factory Records have done a fine job keeping Kuti’s most in-demand records in print, however, with the exception of two albums which were reissued in France 20 years ago, the LPs in this set have never been repressed on vinyl since their original release in the 1970s and 80s. Includes the albums Why Black Man Dey Suffer, Noise for Vendor Mouth, Kalakuta Show, Excuse O, Ikoyi Blindness, Original Sufferhead, and Overtake Don Overtake Overtake, each packaged in their own full-color sleeve with carefully recreated artwork and center labels. Also includes a 16″ x 24″ poster designed by Nigerian artist Lemi Ghariokwu (he designed 29 of Kuti’s album covers), plus a 20-page full-color booklet with introductions by Chris Martin and Femi Kuti and 7 in-depth commentaries on each album by veteran music journalists of Fela.
