Diplo: California Vinyl 12″ (Record Store Day)

14 years after Florida, Diplo drops another solo record, California, and the two albums share a similar tone: “slow, vibey & melancholic.” An obvious departure from his festival/club-crushing repertoire, the summer-friendly tracks are filled w/ slowed-down rhythms and hazy, melodic rap, and it feels like an introspective reaction to the “fame & excess” of Hollywood. The guest list sure reads like a wild night out on the glitzy town, however: Lil Yachty, Santigold, DRAM, Trippie Redd, Lil Xan, MO, and GoldLink all contribute. Check out “Worry No More,” “Color Blind,” and “Wish.”
