Incredible debut album reissued. Dariush Dolat-Shahi created some of the most fascinating and singular music on 1985’s Electronic Music, Tar And Sehtar. Here the Iranian-American composer and instrumentalist combines traditional Persian instrumentation, modular synth experiments, field recordings and tape manipulation for a sound that is completely unique and utterly timeless. The result lands somewhere between drone, folk, ambient, electronic, and experimental music that acts as a bridge to several cultures all the while standing in a zone all its own. It’s always a pleasure to discover these kinds of records via reissues and represses as original copies are scare and very expensive. Worthy of repeat listens, recommended.
