Common: Resurrection Instrumentals 2LP
These instrumentals were floating around a couple years back, one of those shoulda woulda I neva bought it titles. I don’t think that pressing was a double vinyl like this one, and this seems more polished with a notch better mastering. As for the instrumentals themselves, No ID’s production is an understated revelation as easy as transforming an Ahmad Jamal piano lick into a hip hop landmark. Bring it back with the “Resurrection.” Following this path, this instrumental album serves an easy Saturday afternoon. Do the couch melt to tracks like the Monk’s Edit precursor “In My Own World,” the feel good positives of “Thisisme,” or the sharp bounce of “Watermelon.” 11 tracks in all, same as the album. Plays at 45.
