Released on the original Playstation in 1998, The Resident Evil series is groundbreaking in its utilization of themes of isolation, suspense, and mystery solving. Unlike the eerie ambiance of Resident Evil, the RE2 soundtrack “conveys fundamental themes of panic and desperation via varying musical styles.” There’s Carpenter-esque synths, industrial musique concrete, and military brass among ominous piano and orchestral compositions. The music was specifically remastered for this release, and includes 31 tracks over two discs. The records are packaged in a matte finish gatefold sleeve with new artwork, also includes a vellum obi strip.
