BROCKHAMPTON! The “boy band” consists of vocalists, produces, a graphic designer, photographer, and more, and iridescence is the motley crew’s 4th LP. Since forming on the Kanye West forum “KanyeToThe” at Kevin Abstract’s suggestion of forming a band, the multi-faceted collective put out 3 very well received albums (Saturation 1, 2, & 3), and the new 15-tracker is the highly anticipated major label ($15 million deal w/ Sony/RCA!) debut, the 1st installment of the The Best Years of Our Lives trilogy. The sound is colorful and diverse, as the group successfully weaves in various genres to its hip-hop foundation, and the mood also shifts back and forth, from the energetic, mosh-pit-inducing to the more introspective, lush moments. Ameer Vann, considered the one of the strongest MCs of the bunch, was ousted in earlier this year due to domestic abuse allegations, but BROCKHAMPTON’s talent pool runs deep, and the remaining members craft a tight, coherent body of work that showcases a group that’s evolving musically.
