Boards Of Canada: Twoism Vinyl LP

OFFICIAL 2013 REPRESS! Originally released in 1995 on Boards Of Canada‘s own Music70 label, the pressing was limited to 100 vinyl copies, and as a result, it has been known to change hands for $$$. It was then repressed on CD by Warp, then vinyl in 2002, and now its time has come once again to appear on another round of wax. Aside from all the hype, this is my favorite BOC album (err, mini-album). I didn’t know they got down like this, or better, mellowed out like this. The same nostalgia invoking overtones are in place, but the beats are distinctively downtempo. It’s the perfect blend of electronic harmonies and breaks, almost like a trip-hop version of Selected Ambient Works. Check out gems like “Oirectine” and “Seeya Later.” What better way to spend your cold ass winter afternoon, than listening to this album, drifting in and out of consciousness, smartfood and yoo-hoo at hand. Recommended, not for its intensity, but for its mood. Additional tracks include: “Sixtyniner,” “Iced Cooly,” “Basefree,” “Twosim,” “Melissa Juice,” “Smokes Quantity,” and the hidden track “1986 Summer Fire.”
