A Place To Bury Strangers: Transfixiation (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
This album is loud, even for A Place To Bury Strangers. With Transfixiation the Brooklyn based trio moves ever closer to capturing their live intensity. Perhaps that’s because parts of it were recorded at Brooklyn’s now deceased Death By Audio. Whatever the case, there are powerful currents of electricity running through the music on the album. It’s not quite noise as there are heavy psyche overtones and motorik rhythms at the heart of the songs. There is distortion, at times ear bleeding levels of it so dense that you have to fight your way out of it. They take punk and post punk in and spew out a more updated, bastardized child. You might want to flail about uncontrollably, your own mosh pit of one, when you put this on. Just be careful and don’t spill the Pabst on the carpet.
