Marvin Gaye: What’s Going On 45th Anniversary Vinyl 10″
Not only is “What’s Going On” Marvin Gaye’s masterpiece, it is also one the greatest soul songs ever made. Originally released in 1971, at a time when Gaye was finally able to emerge from the image of romantic pop crooner to a legitimate recording artist, the song delivers a powerful message about the state of the world that is still (sadly) so relevant to this day. To celebrate the track’s 45th anniversary, Respect The Classics has given it a limited edition 10″ reissue featuring brand new versions including a duet with BJ The Chicago Kid mixed by the legendary John Morales, and an “unplugged” mix that reveals a buried acoustic guitar and several other hidden nuances from the original session. Comes complete with the original mono single mix of “What’s Going On,” as well as a mono mix of “God Is Love” that differs from the released album version. Recommended.
