Back in print! Hotflush, one the original London dubstep labels (though the label doesn’t limit themselves to dubstep these days), is always sharp when it comes to spotting new talent. This is the first solo release from Joy Orbison. “Hyph Mngo” blends deep basslines and two-step style drums plus some chopped-up Nellee Hooper-era vocals. Future sounds. “Wet Look” is equally intriguing. Maybe this is what Massive Attack would have sounded like if they got into dubstep? Recommended.
