Gay Marvine: Bath House Etiquette Vol.3 (Chicago, Prince, Fleetwood Mac) Vinyl 12″

Gay Marvine has always had a way with the classics. For Bath House Etiquette Vol. 3 he slices up four such classics in his signature subtle style. First up, and possibly the most surprising, is Marvine’s take on Chicago’s “Street Player.” It’s the track that was most famously used for The Bucketheads’ “The Bomb!” Instead of taking it to the obvious place he just lets the groove ride and allows the vocals to float in from time to time. Simple, but effective. Next up is a tasty edit of Prince’s 21 minute version of “America,” where the jam is allowed to breath. Flip the record over for a nice Fleetwood Mac edit, which is followed by some chopperation taken to The Police’s “When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What’s Still Around.” Solid grooves all around.
