Drugdealer: The End Of Comedy (180g) Vinyl LP
Debut LP by Michael Collins’ new project Drugdealer. The End Of Comedy (shots fired?) is as trippy as you would expect from the name of the band (Collins also uses the aliases Run DMT and Salvia Plath, LOL) and is chock full of enough baby boomer stoner cliches to smoke out a Volkswagen EuroVan, from the John Lennon-esque wandering vocals on “The Real World”, to the soulful romp of “Suddenly” and “The End Of Comedy”, featuring Natalie Mering a.k.a. Weyes Blood in full-blown Carole King mode. Kindred spirit and fellow west coast prankster Ariel Pink lends a subtle vocal to “Easy To Forget” and plays bass on “Suddenly”. Also featuring appearances by Charles Free and members of Mild High Club, Mr. Twin Sister and Sheer Agony. Sleeve designed by the inimitable Robert Beatty. Recommended.
